Course topics: Understanding users' problems through research and empathy; communicating designs through deliverables such as personas, site maps, user flows and wireframes; presenting, defending and critiquing design decisions.

 

Heart of Facilitation
Certificate Program: PYE Global. Heart of Facilitation is a 5-month training in Facilitation by the Partners for Youth Empowerment, an international training organization that teaches social artists how to create learning experiences that have real impact. I've been practicing their Creative Community facilitation model and leading programs with it since 2006.
Course topics: facilitation, presentation skills, program design, NVC (non-violent communication), group dynamics, debriefing, personal development, cultural competency.


Coding for Designers
Certificate Program: Aquent Gymnasium. Aquent is a creative staffing agency that connects creative and marketing professionals with the businesses and organizations that need them. 
Course topics: HTML, CSS; translating graphic design to the web; prototyping and troubleshooting.

Certificate Program: Youth Program Quality Initiative. The YPQA is a research-based instrument designed by the Youth Program Quality Initiative to evaluate the quality of youth programs and identify staff training needs.
Course topics: assessing a safe environment, supportive environment, interaction, engagement, youth-centered policies and practices, access, and expectations for youth and staff.
